Brunello Di Montalcino DOCG “Tenuta Greppo” 2017 – Biondi Santi

The 2017 vintage of Tenuta ‘Il Greppo’ also offers new satisfactions, giving a wine that best represents the spirit of Montalcino: Brunello Biondi Santi. This wine, obtained from 100% Sangiovese Grosso, comes from historic family vineyards, with an age ranging from 15 to 30 years. Brunello matures exclusively for 36 months in large Slavonian oak barrels and has an aging potential ranging from 20 to 40 years. It has a bright and transparent garnet color; on the nose it offers a complex bouquet that alternates aromas of macerated raspberries and black cherry jam, with notes of blood orange, red roses, cinnamon and tobacco, all enriched by balsamic hints of juniper berries and fern. On the palate, the wine is already balanced, severe but harmonious, with silky tannins and a fresh and savory backbone, without neglecting the softness and warmth typical of a great red for aging. It would be reductive to list the dishes to pair with this wine, since its perfection only requires being uncorked, poured into a large glass to breathe a little, and then… close your eyes and let yourself be transported.
